Message from Next Church on the occasion of Rustle's 4th birthday

like all births it was both messy and beautiful.

some could not bear to watch, and snuck out the side door.

others stayed until the end and and watched you take your first few ragged breaths.

when the construction noise was done, you invited the neighbourhood for a meal. people came from next door and up the street. a few drove cars and parked on the slope outside. people sat round scarred wooden tables and on used plaid couches. they told frank stories, gazed at the cowboy boots in the hall, and wondered if they would come back.

days, months and four years passed.

you sang story songs in the basement on tuesdays and thursdays. on fridays there were birthday parties. on saturdays, weddings. on sundays, people were baptized in a grey trough that was full to overflowing, and wrapped with faded towels worn from washing.

you left your tender baby skin and unfolded your limbs. you said your first words. took steps, and occasionally burst into a run.

we gasp at the wonder of it.

happy birthday rustle.

may you grow to be a grandmother and a great great aunt. may you welcome many through your doors, and send many out more fully who they are. may you make beauty in the neighbourhood. may you know and love the Maker.

On Thanksgiving and turning 4

Next week we will be having a Thanksgiving celebration with a turkey meal. We are also celebrating Rustle turning 4 years old.
If you want to bring food items for the meal you can talk to Sam about what is needed.

This Wednesday is the WITH meeting at 6:30pm.

Note that the WITH meeting has been changed to Oct 6 @6:30 at Rustle.

Ladies Bible study runs Thursdays at 7pm.

Friday night with the Fellas is at 7pm (Friday as the title suggests)

September notes

September 29 @6:30pm is the Rustle WITH meeting to listen and have your voice heard about Rustle going- ons.

Thursdays @7pm is the Ladies Bible Study .

Pray for the children and teachers as they head back to school on the 7th.

Make

Please continue to pray for 'Make' camp that is going on this week. That the children and the leaders will be blessed, safe and peaceful.

Ladies Bible Study is Thursdays at 7pm at Rustle.

There will be prayer on Saturday Aug 14 & 28 @ 11am at Rustle.

There will be a BBQ on Sunday. Contact Sam to donate burgers or dogs or if you want to work the grill.

Sept 29th @ 6:30pm there is a WITH meeting for the congregation. Mark your calenders!

Church picnic

Sunday we are taking Church to the park on Bagot St for a picnic. Come to Rustle at 11am Sunday!
